Description ERREBAL CULTURAL CENTRE

The aim of this project is to create an opportunity to revitalise the area and create a new centre in Eibar which is expected to be a very active space that will help the socio-economic development of the area and where various cultural activities will also take place.
The image of the new Errebal space is intended to be linked to its surroundings, where the relationship between inside and outside disappears in a blurred way. Hence, the enclosures of all the spaces and volumes are resolved with ‘crystalline skins’, in order to capture the activity of the people who circulate around the city, while at the same time allowing the users of these spaces to take advantage of the sunlight and natural light. The materials used contrast with the use of exposed reinforced concrete in the rest of the volumetric elements.
The roof is made up of 31 two-layer cushions (15 of ETFE and 16 of PVC) with triangular and rhomboidal geometries following the modulation of the metal structure with a trapezoidal ground plan and total dimensions of 37mx20m and a maximum height of 4.5m.

Technical Base

The cover is made up of 16 cushions in 2 layers of white PVC (Ferrari 1202 S2 fabric) and 15 cushions in 2 layers of transparent ETFE (14 cushions with 250 micron ETFE and 1 cushion with 300 micron ETFE). The cushions have a triangular and rhomboidal geometry following the modulation generated by the structure. The welds between the sizes that make up each cushion have been designed to maintain the linearity throughout the entire cover.
The cushions are fixed to the structure by means of an aluminium profile.
On the perimeter, the ends are made of aluminium sheeting to channel the water into the gutter.
On top of the aluminium profiles, stainless steel pieces are installed every 2 metres to form anchoring supports for the lifeline to carry out maintenance work on the roof.
