The new Loyola University Campus in Dos Hermanas, Seville, designed by architectural firm Luis Vidal Arquitectos, is based on the notion of community, the need for flexibility and a commitment to sustainability, with the goal of achieving the LEED Gold environmental certification.
The Department of Textile Architecture at IASO has been commissioned to provide the materials required to cover the façade of the building. The textile covering is made of i-tensing panels and tensioned membranes covering a surface area of 7500 m2 and 1145 m2 respectively.
The i-tensing panels comprise an aluminium frame over which a membrane is tensioned, in this case, Flexlight Perform 502 S2 in colour translucent white. The tensioned membranes are produced as a single piece, and they are made of steel cables that tense the slate-coloured Frontside View 381 textile membrane. The membranes are positioned according to the façade, tilting to the east and west, and perpendicular to the façade on the north side. There are no membranes on the south side.
The campus has already opened its doors to the 2019/2020 academic year, and all students have the opportunity to take advantage of the new Sustainable Mobility Plan.
