ZARAUTZ FUNERAL HOME
Zarautz
PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The purpose of this project is to give shape to the façade of the Mémora Funeral Home in Zarautz, the Basque Country. By covering the outside of the windows on the top floor, the aim is to use the shadows and concealments produced by the canvas to create an intimate, sheltered space. The textile façade created with PVC membrane is made up of eight canvases, all with different shapes, to meet the criteria set by the architect.

TECHNICAL BASE

The shape of the canvases is defined by the outlines created with a metal “L” profile. The canvas selected is a white Soltis 381 microperforated membrane; upon customer request and to have a 10-year guarantee, the canvas is screen printed in grey, including text chosen by the customer. As the fabric is printed, it can only be soldered on one side. The joints between the different cuts are made head-on with a grey PVC VIP-FR strip on the inner face to join the two shapes. This membrane is fixed to the “L” profile around the perimeter by means of our aluminium tensioning profile anodised in silver. At the changes of plane of the structure, the membrane follows the incline on a hinged plate which marks the bend in the canvas.
