This project consists of the manufacture and installation of membranes to cover the new structures built to improve accessibility to the Plaza de los Ferroviarios from Calle Uría.
The two new escalators and the new panoramic lift that will link the Plaza de los Ferroviarios with Calle Uría will be covered.
The roofs of the stairs are rectangular metal structures, with total dimensions of 3.24mx26m each and a maximum height of 5m. In the lift tower, independent tarpaulins have been built for each side of the tower with dimensions of 2.5m/1.8m wide x 10.22m high.
The membrane is made with a single-layer screen-printed ETFE film system that provides transparency while protecting against the weather.
At night they will be illuminated with lights that can change colour.
Technical Base
1.1. Staircase tarpaulins
The structure of the staircases is made up of metal profiles with a square tubular section forming different triangular planes that form small pyramids. These structures are covered with a single 250-micron thick, single-layer ETFE tarpaulin with silver grey screen printing. At the low points of these pyramids, the membrane is fixed to the structure by means of stainless steel rods and straps. A perimeter fastening is made by means of a white lacquered aluminium profile.
1.2. Lift tower tarpaulins
5 units of façade tarpaulins are made for the structure of the lift tower in single-layer ETFE, 250 microns thick. Each tarpaulin is made up of different triangular sizes that alternate transparent ETFE and silver grey screen-printed ETFE, coinciding with the diagonals of the structure and giving the sensation of independent membranes. These canvases are fixed around the perimeter by means of a white lacquered aluminium profile.
